Elbistan\u2019da daha \u00f6nce rastlan\u0131lmayan ve genelde G\u00fcneydo\u011fu Anadolu B\u00f6lgesi\u2019nde yay\u0131l\u0131\u015f g\u00f6steren; mercimek, nohut, bu\u011fday, arpa, kavun ve karpuz gibi bitkilere zarar veren \u2018mantolu b\u00f6cek\u2019, K\u0131\u015fla Mahallesi\u2019nde \u00e7ift\u00e7iler taraf\u0131ndan tesad\u00fcfen fark edildi. Mantolu b\u00f6cek, k\u0131\u015f\u0131 bir y\u0131l \u00f6nceki bitki art\u0131klar\u0131ndan \u00f6r\u00fclm\u00fc\u015f mantodaki pupa kokonlar\u0131 i\u00e7inde diyapozda ge\u00e7irir. Nisan ba\u015f\u0131ndan itibaren larvalar toprak y\u00fczeyine \u00e7\u0131karak nohut ve mercime\u011fe ge\u00e7er. Bitkilerin taze s\u00fcrg\u00fcn ve yapraklar\u0131yla beslenir ve s\u00fcrg\u00fcnleri keser. Bu kesilen par\u00e7alar\u0131n bir k\u0131sm\u0131n\u0131 ipek salg\u0131lar\u0131yla birbirine s\u0131k\u00e7a yap\u0131\u015ft\u0131rarak v\u00fccutlar\u0131n\u0131n etraf\u0131nda manto olu\u015ftururlar. Mantolar\u0131n renkleri beslendi\u011fi ortama ba\u011fl\u0131 olarak grimsi koyu kahverengi, saman rengi ve ye\u015filimsi olabilmektedir. May\u0131s\u0131n ikinci yar\u0131s\u0131ndan itibaren tohum kaps\u00fclleri ile de beslenmekte, g\u00f6\u00e7 ederek bir tarladan di\u011ferine ge\u00e7mekte ve haziran ay\u0131n\u0131n ilk haftas\u0131na kadar beslenmelerine devam etmektedirler.
