Jeoloji M\u00fchendisi Prof. Dr. Nazire \u00d6zgen, Tarih \u00d6\u011fretmeni, ara\u015ft\u0131rmac\u0131-yazar Fikri Karaman taraf\u0131ndan g\u00fcndeme getirilen bu\u011fday tanelerine benzer fosille ilgili yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131 de\u011ferlendirmede, bulunan fosilin 50-55 milyon y\u0131ll\u0131k nummulites ad\u0131 verilen tek h\u00fccreli deniz canl\u0131lar\u0131na ait oldu\u011funu s\u00f6yledi. \u00d6zgen, \u201cBu fosiller ile zaman zaman kar\u015f\u0131la\u015f\u0131yoruz. Bu bulunan fosil Sivas \u00e7evresinde 50-55 milyon y\u0131l \u00f6nce ya\u015fam\u0131\u015f nummulites ad\u0131 verilen tek h\u00fccreli deniz canl\u0131lar\u0131na aittir. Daha \u00e7ok mercime\u011fe benzerler. Bu nedenle bulunduklar\u0131 belgeler, Mercimekli tepe gibi isimlerle adland\u0131r\u0131l\u0131r.
